<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1bS1lA5MGi8/XDN7iSGelFI/AAAAAAAAAhI/IzgFFQrw57sd5YPX6IDAtTFpL8lAo2G6wCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6730.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1bS1lA5MGi8/XDN7iSGelFI/AAAAAAAAAhI/IzgFFQrw57sd5YPX6IDAtTFpL8lAo2G6wCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_6730.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<a href="https://www.bijoubasinranch.com/">Bijou Basin Ranch</a> sent me a gorgeous skein of Lhasa Wilderness to play with. The colorway is called<a href="https://www.bijoubasinranch.com/lhasa-wilderness-stargazer/"> Stargazer</a> from the Reflections Collection and dyed exclusively by Colorful Eclectic. It is a blend of 75% Tibetan Yak and 25% Bamboo. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ttlYnOPM1xw/XDN7tTvo49I/AAAAAAAAAhQ/B_feBTi2jQEIwUNvBATFdc32KV4XbwqoQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_0201.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ttlYnOPM1xw/XDN7tTvo49I/AAAAAAAAAhQ/B_feBTi2jQEIwUNvBATFdc32KV4XbwqoQCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_0201.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
The yarn is smooth and cool to the touch. I felt that it would weave up beautifully and decided to give it a try on my Leclerc Dorothy Loom. It's a table loom that has 4 shafts. I warped the loom with a purple mercerized cotton yarn with a 10 dent reed. The Lhasa Wilderness is a light sport weight yarn.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jmoqqIrQlfs/XDN7hmsViBI/AAAAAAAAAhU/IYMLrVq2Dy8lOVBzPYaoDI7IfgJ5Q7N2gCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_0204.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1315" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jmoqqIrQlfs/XDN7hmsViBI/AAAAAAAAAhU/IYMLrVq2Dy8lOVBzPYaoDI7IfgJ5Q7N2gCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_0204.JPG" width="524" /></a></div>
The color variegation is looking great in the woven cloth. I began with plain weave and then wove some rib weave and then more plain weave.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/--RP4lq5CFPc/XDN7sojHIDI/AAAAAAAAAhc/2wquDQQqlI4Iu6fY8vPYKLD6Nx43ls5eQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_0203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/--RP4lq5CFPc/XDN7sojHIDI/AAAAAAAAAhc/2wquDQQqlI4Iu6fY8vPYKLD6Nx43ls5eQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_0203.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
Isn't is pretty? You can see that the rib weave shows more pops of color while the plain weave blends the variegation. I am going to continue to weave and sample different patterns. I am pleased with how it is looking and the yarn is a dream to weave with. <a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2cT0xF2zroY/W1Sl_0sgltI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/trl4kt1R21cNRBY1naaXwghJ1Iwk3Jq0gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4504-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2cT0xF2zroY/W1Sl_0sgltI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/trl4kt1R21cNRBY1naaXwghJ1Iwk3Jq0gCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_4504-2.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I have a big love for little looms. There is just something about them that I can not resist. I think that I like working in smaller formats so that lends to the appeal for me. When <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/">Schacht Spindle Co</a>. introduced their newest small loom, <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/item/easel-weaver/">Easel Weaver</a>, I knew I had to try that loom!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TWk9J4qQXZ4/W1SmALf2jzI/AAAAAAAAAgo/PjAYNUAS68oiV49cOeL-7HRALTvGRP6DACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_4534.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TWk9J4qQXZ4/W1SmALf2jzI/AAAAAAAAAgo/PjAYNUAS68oiV49cOeL-7HRALTvGRP6DACEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_4534.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I warped up the loom with <a href="https://www.yarn.com/products/maysville-8-4-cotton-carpet-warp">carpet warp</a> from Webs at 6 epi. The weft is a knitting and needlepoint yarn called Paragon. It's made in England and the label says it's a multi purpose 3-ply Persian yarn. I got a few bags of it in assorted colors from a church tag sale and had always intended to weave with it. This was the perfect opportunity to use what I had on hand.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ySDN9EzjCD8/W1SmAf05mMI/AAAAAAAAAgk/6LMYw-PxcHMqeBptyGGO6lm_QeBmG12LwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_4581.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ySDN9EzjCD8/W1SmAf05mMI/AAAAAAAAAgk/6LMYw-PxcHMqeBptyGGO6lm_QeBmG12LwCEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_4581.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
My tapestry weaving was inspired by the tiny tapestry houses woven by <a href="https://www.afieldguidetoneedlework.com/">Sarah C Swett</a>. I have been following her 4 selvedge weaving and the tiny houses are just perfect. The loom is easy to use and the <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/item/3-in-1-magic-stick/">3-In-1 Magic Stick</a> is really useful. I am using the 10" size. You can prop up the loom using the built in stand or lay it flat on the table or your lap. The portable size of the Easel Weaver is a real plus for me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dJuwiQROlrk/W1SmA6WPzqI/AAAAAAAAAgs/CKVLnvmUDoYILVgAGQ0A0qD4GISN9UR2QCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_4660.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dJuwiQROlrk/W1SmA6WPzqI/AAAAAAAAAgs/CKVLnvmUDoYILVgAGQ0A0qD4GISN9UR2QCEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_4660.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
Finished tapestry weaving! The 3-ply yarn worked out really well. I was able to blend colors by taking apart the plies and mixing the colors. I wanted to create more depth by blending the yarns.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZqEvUgO0Crc/W1SmBGkhoqI/AAAAAAAAAgw/CvbKVa7NeIMDjezRsJMX8Ew4R_uC_JGgQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_4662.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZqEvUgO0Crc/W1SmBGkhoqI/AAAAAAAAAgw/CvbKVa7NeIMDjezRsJMX8Ew4R_uC_JGgQCEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_4662.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
So many ends to weave in and snip! Once I clean up the back, I can mount it and hang it. Thank you <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/">Schacht Spindle Co</a> for sending me the <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/item/easel-weaver/">Easel Weaver</a> to weave on. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "sans-serif";">Blocking
knit wear is essential. After spending all that time hand knitting or
crocheting something, you don’t want to skip this finishing step. It changes the
drape, opens up stitches, evens out your stitches, relaxes the fibers and helps
the yarn bloom. I like using blocking wires because it makes it faster to
achieve straight lines and to pull things into shape. When <a href="https://www.lazadas.net/">Lazadus Knitting Accessories</a> offered to
send me their flexible blocking wires, I was really excited to try them. The <a href="https://www.lazadas.net/product-page/deluxe-super-flexible-knitting-blocking-wire-set">Deluxe Super Flexible Set</a> comes with 10 super
flexible blocking wires 35” (90 cm) long each, 5 super flexible blocking wires
70” (180 cm) long each and 60 Nickel plated T-Pins.</span>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "sans-serif";">The wires
that I have been using for years are thicker and pretty rigid. I can get them
to bend a bit, but it requires a lot of pins to hold the shape. Lazadas wires
are thin and flexible. One big difference I noticed was how much easier it was
for me to thread the wires through my piece. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pMoyCUYKXFM/W1SUMN7kNII/AAAAAAAAAfs/4YuXfIf3McUSn6tZQuVNkAXsXC0j_IqAwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_5191.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1575" data-original-width="1600" height="392" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pMoyCUYKXFM/W1SUMN7kNII/AAAAAAAAAfs/4YuXfIf3McUSn6tZQuVNkAXsXC0j_IqAwCEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_5191.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "sans-serif";">I used 3 wires to shape this triangular swatch for a shawl. The bottom curve was effortless to shape! Even the straight sides were easy to pin out. The one thing that you do need to be careful of is when you are uncoiling the wires. They are under tension and can hit you in the face if you do not pay attention. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "sans-serif";"></span> For this swatch, I used 2 wires. One wire for the top and one on the bottom for the points. Then I used the pins to straighten out the sides. The thin flexible works really well for thinner gauge yarns. It didn't cause gaping holes in the fabric.<br />

Do you have any weekend crafting plans? I am going to play and swatch with the yarns I got from <a href="https://www.berroco.com/">Berroco</a> at the <a href="https://www.tnna.org/">TNNA</a> Summer 2018 Show. Their sampler bag has all the newest yarn offerings. I can knit, crochet or weave. The sky's the limit! Have a great weekend. <a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n8UTmV0XsiU/W0Ox1pHqV7I/AAAAAAAAAeg/b_KwxvvTAc0ty3-xqZm--eRhZLO6QIqbQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4934.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1527" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n8UTmV0XsiU/W0Ox1pHqV7I/AAAAAAAAAeg/b_KwxvvTAc0ty3-xqZm--eRhZLO6QIqbQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_4934.JPG" width="610" /></a></div>
I am picky when it comes to cotton yarns. Cotton can be hard to work with because it lacks elasticity. I was pleasantly surprised when I started crocheting with <a href="http://www.vinniscolours.co.za/#bambi">Bambi by Vinni's Colours</a>. It was cool to the touch and smooth. The yarn is a blend of 70% cotton and 30% bamboo viscose. It crocheted so easily and it was enjoyable to work with.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uXjXQtyxSQU/W0OzPyZ7UqI/AAAAAAAAAes/4-lk3gqCO6kZ4Sx6Zjv4aivXKrnbNXjkgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4935.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uXjXQtyxSQU/W0OzPyZ7UqI/AAAAAAAAAes/4-lk3gqCO6kZ4Sx6Zjv4aivXKrnbNXjkgCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_4935.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
The yarn is textured with parts of it being thick and thin. As you can see, it crochets up pretty evenly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D0jMJegnXWo/W0OzvMwwWvI/AAAAAAAAAe0/wmxR76znt8MhqN2ypQ0Fvq2oSmWZMOPxwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4932.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1450" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D0jMJegnXWo/W0OzvMwwWvI/AAAAAAAAAe0/wmxR76znt8MhqN2ypQ0Fvq2oSmWZMOPxwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_4932.JPG" width="578" /></a></div>
Cotton yarns can be very difficult to weave on a pin loom. The 3 layer warp plus the 4th weaving layer can be tricky to execute if the yarn does not have much elasticity. I warped the <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/item/zoom-loom/">Schacht Spindle Co Zoom Loom</a> with a little slack. It got a little tight at the very last row when I wove it, but it wasn't hard at all. I know for next time, I will give the yarn more slack when I warp it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RJLS3NBby0c/W0O1LBaY2bI/AAAAAAAAAfA/Y8hI4N4YcbsfpGXgxmSjzUxzSE_omTo4ACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4933.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RJLS3NBby0c/W0O1LBaY2bI/AAAAAAAAAfA/Y8hI4N4YcbsfpGXgxmSjzUxzSE_omTo4ACLcBGAs/s400/IMG_4933.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I think it wove up nicely on the Zoom Loom. The thick and thin of the yarn gave the finished square some texture. I would definitely use this yarn for weaving, crocheting and knitting. Filatura Di Crosa's <a href="http://filaturadicrosa.com/en/hand-knitting-yarns/Autumn-Winter/Zarina-Mosaico">Zarina Mosaico</a> comes in a palette of 5 colors. It's a 4ply that has a beautiful marled color effect. When you touch it, you will feel that it's buttery soft because it's made from 100% superwash extra fine merino wool.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nc7blhtBwOg/WvRqwjdfXjI/AAAAAAAAAds/O0yb7cBfIPc0mL2BNJEYl3dQSmdUVnVwwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3607.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nc7blhtBwOg/WvRqwjdfXjI/AAAAAAAAAds/O0yb7cBfIPc0mL2BNJEYl3dQSmdUVnVwwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3607.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<a href="http://filaturadicrosa.com/en/hand-knitting-yarns/Autumn-Winter/Zarina-Mosaico">Zarina Mosaico</a> is a sport weight yarn. It will weave up a little looser on <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/item/zoom-loom/">Schacht Spindle Co's</a> <a href="https://www.yarn.com/products/schacht-zoom-loom?via=5a4cdb716170700aec04bc00%2C5a4cdb756170700aec04cbba%2C5a4cdb776170700aec04cfc8">Zoom Loom</a>, but I really wanted to see how the colors would look like when woven. Sampling is always the best way to see how a yarn will look like. It's like swatching with knitting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Pl-q9lc6kY4/WvRtcWqpNXI/AAAAAAAAAeI/zPBngLceXAshLHk38NLdoZc6k3_PZuINwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3605.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Pl-q9lc6kY4/WvRtcWqpNXI/AAAAAAAAAeI/zPBngLceXAshLHk38NLdoZc6k3_PZuINwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3605.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The elasticity of <a href="http://filaturadicrosa.com/en/hand-knitting-yarns/Autumn-Winter/Zarina-Mosaico">Zarina Mosaico</a> made it really easy to weave it on a <a href="https://www.yarn.com/products/schacht-zoom-loom?via=5a4cdb716170700aec04bc00%2C5a4cdb756170700aec04cbba%2C5a4cdb776170700aec04cfc8">pin loom</a>. And I like how the sport weight wove up. It will make a light fabric with a nice drape.<br />

<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OUYs-ZRTijw/WuHkAy18jJI/AAAAAAAAAcs/sklxCsz9yWg7eQHLlEpcuE6j0JPLWJm3wCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2944.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OUYs-ZRTijw/WuHkAy18jJI/AAAAAAAAAcs/sklxCsz9yWg7eQHLlEpcuE6j0JPLWJm3wCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2944.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<a href="http://www.brownsheep.com/">Brown Sheep Company's</a> new yarn <a href="http://www.brownsheep.com/yarns/synchrony/">Synchrony</a> comes in playful colors. It's a multicolored blend of 60% cotton and 40% wool. I knew I wanted to weave with it as soon as I got it in my hands.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pxc5MPKs1eA/WuHm3lIhqaI/AAAAAAAAAdM/9Mj29cEGRS0x9NVi2XD0tdWMkp3sFgfVwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2952.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pxc5MPKs1eA/WuHm3lIhqaI/AAAAAAAAAdM/9Mj29cEGRS0x9NVi2XD0tdWMkp3sFgfVwCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2952.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I used a 3 foot Tri Loom adjusted to a 2 foot triangle for weaving. It's <a href="http://www.rectangleloom.info/">Hideaway</a> adjustable fine sett loom that I borrowed from a weaving guild member. I wanted to weave a bunch of triangles and seam them together to make a scarf.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-14ZlMa_YKj8/WuHm3rKxpjI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/gIAhc_OtynIKIrfl63CcI2YqDqIm9zFkwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2946.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-14ZlMa_YKj8/WuHm3rKxpjI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/gIAhc_OtynIKIrfl63CcI2YqDqIm9zFkwCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2946.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
As you can see, it weaves up beautifully. The cotton and wool blend is going to be perfect for Spring and Summer weather.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6HYvjN3NekY/WuHm3Vs1b6I/AAAAAAAAAdI/reEVLY8QPVEzgt0NRTulurZ1ucFiyQthACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3304-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6HYvjN3NekY/WuHm3Vs1b6I/AAAAAAAAAdI/reEVLY8QPVEzgt0NRTulurZ1ucFiyQthACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3304-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I am using the color called Picnic (ST203R). So far I have 2 triangles woven and have plenty of yarn to weave more from 1 skein of yarn.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fvmwl5Vknb4/WuHm4Ed4vVI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/qvqlBArGcro5DR0VZ_nJgr-iE4ZFEDKigCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3305.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fvmwl5Vknb4/WuHm4Ed4vVI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/qvqlBArGcro5DR0VZ_nJgr-iE4ZFEDKigCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3305.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I have only lightly steamed the triangles for now. I will wash and full it after the scarf is seamed together. It will tighten up the weaving and let the yarn bloom. The woven fabric is cool to the touch and smooth. I love how the colors worked each other as I wove across the loom.This yarn is great for warm weather projects. I bet it would make the loveliest baby blanket.<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The <a href="http://www.brownsheep.com/">Brown Sheep Company</a> has a great new yarn called <a href="http://www.brownsheep.com/product-category/psdk/">Prairie Spun DK</a>. It's a
3-ply yarn spun from 100% US wool. The DK weight yarn comes in a variety
of colors and a generous 256 yards per skein. I chose the colors: Half & Half, Lost Lake, and
Honeycomb. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fyi1kfnWYuc/Wn0e1H7hdkI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/Ud6vK-TUam8LuvZh8ta4K0yMgps4XdarQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_1373.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fyi1kfnWYuc/Wn0e1H7hdkI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/Ud6vK-TUam8LuvZh8ta4K0yMgps4XdarQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_1373.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I chose to weave with this yarn because Brown Sheep yarns are not just only excellent for knitting and crocheting. As soon I felt the yarn, I knew it would weave up beautifully. It's a smooth yarn with a wooly feel. It can handle texture very well. I used another yarn to weave my samples first. I wanted to make a log cabin cowl inspired by the <a href="https://fringeassociation.com/2017/10/24/fringe-and-friends-new-year-knitalong-preview-and-plans/">Fringe and Friends Log Along</a>, but woven with my pin looms instead of knitting or crocheting it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uNyO-TkGym8/Wn0e0hUnBmI/AAAAAAAAAcU/xyg2FVKKTYMfy6t7u0Kh0gH_32dZQMjrQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_1386.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uNyO-TkGym8/Wn0e0hUnBmI/AAAAAAAAAcU/xyg2FVKKTYMfy6t7u0Kh0gH_32dZQMjrQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_1386.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once I knew the sizes I would be using, I began to weave with the Prairie Spun DK. I am using the <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/item/zoom-loom/">Zoom Loom</a> and my collection of Weavettes. The pattern I weaving is called Waffle Grid.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UrvgYN_hCe8/Wn0e1CoRjBI/AAAAAAAAAcY/heH1DrXH7JEcceR0u8HP0b9qsGV64pyxACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_1465.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UrvgYN_hCe8/Wn0e1CoRjBI/AAAAAAAAAcY/heH1DrXH7JEcceR0u8HP0b9qsGV64pyxACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_1465.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wove a bunch of different sized squares and rectangles. Then I started piecing them together to form my log cabin block. I loved how the 3 colors worked with each other.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ts2zx7B4x_8/Wn0e1vnYgEI/AAAAAAAAAcU/YH0PpVwWOaIFD_0EWYOtd6zdIjtklfyLACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_1621.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1421" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ts2zx7B4x_8/Wn0e1vnYgEI/AAAAAAAAAcU/YH0PpVwWOaIFD_0EWYOtd6zdIjtklfyLACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_1621.JPG" width="568" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's a bit fiddly to seam the block perfectly. But it was well worth my time to get the joins just right. In my video <a href="https://www.interweave.com/store/creative-pin-loom-designs-video-download">Creative Pin-Loom Designs</a>, I show you how I seam my pin loom squares together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w-fURnTAY0g/Wn0e2ahhoKI/AAAAAAAAAcY/E7souxh1xFYMITLHQrkKc399Iz8bk4nsACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_1834.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w-fURnTAY0g/Wn0e2ahhoKI/AAAAAAAAAcY/E7souxh1xFYMITLHQrkKc399Iz8bk4nsACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_1834.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The <a href="http://www.brownsheep.com/product-category/psdk/">Prairie Spun DK</a> has a nice elasticity. It really shows off the waffle grid pattern well. I just need a few more blocks and I can complete my cowl. Stayed tuned to see my finished cowl. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thank you to <a href="http://www.brownsheep.com/">Brown Sheep Company</a> for providing me the yarn for review.</div>

<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tsc_aNz8SUg/WmZkeeWcJII/AAAAAAAAAZw/2tJ7nWc4Iv0BbZTcFPyInnmnD4nZomqtgCLcBGAs/s1600/woolwash%252C%2Beucalan.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tsc_aNz8SUg/WmZkeeWcJII/AAAAAAAAAZw/2tJ7nWc4Iv0BbZTcFPyInnmnD4nZomqtgCLcBGAs/s640/woolwash%252C%2Beucalan.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Thank you to <a href="https://www.eucalan.com/">Eucalan Delicate Wash</a> for sending me the <a href="https://www.eucalan.com/products-1/accessories">Eucalan Gift Pack</a> for review. You should always block your knitted, crocheted or woven projects. It helps even out the stitches and lets the yarn bloom. <a href="https://www.eucalan.com/">Eucalan Delicate Wash</a> is a no-rinse formula that is non-toxic, biodegradable and phosphate-free. It naturally conditions the fibers with a touch of lanolin and it comes in five scents: eucalyptus, lavender, grapefruit, unscented and their new jasmine scent, Wrapture. Eucalyptus and lavender are naturally moth and flea repellent, making them an excellent choice for wool fibers and fabrics.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ws7RDpKF5yE/WmZoiD4QIQI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/X0m0b8NHMwQFTUVSpa_BB8N0fTmgJs93QCLcBGAs/s1600/eucalan%252C%2Bwoolwash.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1192" data-original-width="1600" height="476" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ws7RDpKF5yE/WmZoiD4QIQI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/X0m0b8NHMwQFTUVSpa_BB8N0fTmgJs93QCLcBGAs/s640/eucalan%252C%2Bwoolwash.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
First check your yarn label and see what water temperature to use. Typically I use cold or tepid water. You do not want to accidentally felt your project. I am going to be blocking my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/iced-eucalyptus-beret">Iced Eucalyptus Beret</a>. The yarn label says "hand wash cold" so I will be using cold water. I filled the sink with cold water. As you run the water, add a teaspoon of Eucalan. Then soak the hat in the water for 30 minutes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K4KAbPzQhrA/Wmagrdo_NBI/AAAAAAAAAaM/uOvvEz6TSp8j0yi6TgIEXyra68nNSO95QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_5952.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K4KAbPzQhrA/Wmagrdo_NBI/AAAAAAAAAaM/uOvvEz6TSp8j0yi6TgIEXyra68nNSO95QCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_5952.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
After 30 minutes, gently squeeze the water out of the hat. Then roll in between a towel to get the excess water out. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DZ7VSwN2yp8/WmahNa85UWI/AAAAAAAAAaU/dF2HfpN7C2cSY1CE1Y3a-lxd50FZEmoIgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_5454.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1118" data-original-width="1600" height="446" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DZ7VSwN2yp8/WmahNa85UWI/AAAAAAAAAaU/dF2HfpN7C2cSY1CE1Y3a-lxd50FZEmoIgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_5454.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Take a 10" diameter plate and and place it inside the hat.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YGNNwYq1HJk/WmahNT9ljkI/AAAAAAAAAaY/Beej2LuasAMGDjkbDaUnY_40sVvgdnLSACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_5465.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1238" data-original-width="1600" height="494" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YGNNwYq1HJk/WmahNT9ljkI/AAAAAAAAAaY/Beej2LuasAMGDjkbDaUnY_40sVvgdnLSACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_5465.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Thread scrap yarn onto a tapestry needle.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P8VJ57CJIis/Wmah7hMddBI/AAAAAAAAAaw/bi5FBBbJkWIsBpnNsmJ-WeRNzi4yLuUVACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_5474.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P8VJ57CJIis/Wmah7hMddBI/AAAAAAAAAaw/bi5FBBbJkWIsBpnNsmJ-WeRNzi4yLuUVACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_5474.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Using a running stitch, baste around the brim of the hat.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nyi5hVZXThc/Wmah7Q_4ICI/AAAAAAAAAao/IaDiE2P5hfgwa5FVbrAzVm1YiXO-pIwbACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_5482.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1269" data-original-width="1600" height="506" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nyi5hVZXThc/Wmah7Q_4ICI/AAAAAAAAAao/IaDiE2P5hfgwa5FVbrAzVm1YiXO-pIwbACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_5482.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Gently cinch the brim to the desired size. You want the brim to gather up because you don't want it stretched out. Tie a knot to hold the scrap yarn in place.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HmmGz_BuVOA/Wmah7cP-9iI/AAAAAAAAAa8/ZhXzu-nVpeww8bPMcwHdD7vcn2LcO5vhACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_5486.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1352" data-original-width="1600" height="540" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HmmGz_BuVOA/Wmah7cP-9iI/AAAAAAAAAa8/ZhXzu-nVpeww8bPMcwHdD7vcn2LcO5vhACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_5486.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Another good reason for soaking your knitwear in Eucalan? It cleans it. Your project would have attracted a
lot of dirt or dust by the time you are done working on it. Eucalan Delicate Wash is
great for cleaning before you wear it and for after you have worn it for a while. It's an excellent way to keep your knitwear looking new and smelling fresh. Their no-rinse formula makes it so easy to care for your handmade items. You can even use it on specialty fabrics and fibers such as silk, rayon and cotton.<br />

<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0zCbTsopmk0/Wk_4gt4YwMI/AAAAAAAAAYo/TTh4JJFwAoIoFDncAF69-uv6Ac2rpN8VgCLcBGAs/s1600/01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0zCbTsopmk0/Wk_4gt4YwMI/AAAAAAAAAYo/TTh4JJFwAoIoFDncAF69-uv6Ac2rpN8VgCLcBGAs/s640/01.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I recently had the opportunity to try a cashmere yarn from <a href="http://filaturadicrosa.com/en">Filatura Di Crosa</a>. They are an Italian luxury yarn brand. <a href="http://filaturadicrosa.com/en/hand-knitting-yarns/Autumn-Winter/Solocashmere">Solocashmere</a> is a fingering weight 100% cashmere yarn. It comes in <a href="http://filaturadicrosa.com/en/hand-knitting-yarns/Autumn-Winter/Solocashmere">25 gorgeous colors</a>. As you can imagine, cashmere is very soft. I wanted to make something with it that would be worn close to the neck.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bTn3OSNVzGo/Wk_4hS7jmHI/AAAAAAAAAY8/iAdIJpWP5zYkOqF_nXfDl2Mh55RcVIefQCEwYBhgL/s1600/02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bTn3OSNVzGo/Wk_4hS7jmHI/AAAAAAAAAY8/iAdIJpWP5zYkOqF_nXfDl2Mh55RcVIefQCEwYBhgL/s640/02.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
This is a fingering weight yarn, but I had a feeling it would weave up nicely on a 4" pin loom. The yarn is made of many strands and plied. It has a soft halo. I used a <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/item/zoom-loom/">Zoom Loom</a> from the Schacht Spindle Co to make a test square and I really liked the woven fabric. The test square showed me the yarn bloomed and filled in the spaces. I was able to weave 11 squares from 1 ball of yarn.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A3RbhztJhEI/Wk_4hMUIW-I/AAAAAAAAAY8/C8f2-aq2N7gKTVr8y8J3b_vpLMuiG3vUwCEwYBhgL/s1600/03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A3RbhztJhEI/Wk_4hMUIW-I/AAAAAAAAAY8/C8f2-aq2N7gKTVr8y8J3b_vpLMuiG3vUwCEwYBhgL/s640/03.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I played around and decided to use 6 squares to make a close fitting cowl. I seamed all the squares together like above first. This way I can check the fit. This size actually fits me and my two daughters. After that, I joined the two ends together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4hLBhPbBP9E/Wk_4icVxx0I/AAAAAAAAAY8/DCdr9FN00UwJt_U_yaffopvTvnfjwH52QCEwYBhgL/s1600/05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4hLBhPbBP9E/Wk_4icVxx0I/AAAAAAAAAY8/DCdr9FN00UwJt_U_yaffopvTvnfjwH52QCEwYBhgL/s640/05.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
For the bottom of the cowl, I single crocheted around and I added a crocheted pom pom at the point of the cowl as I went around. The little pom pom is cute and decorative.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GkQ6AZLyK6s/Wk_4h7jQV7I/AAAAAAAAAY8/zs6MDmPor64C3bAJlaGGuHyYeHjOmfQDgCEwYBhgL/s1600/04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GkQ6AZLyK6s/Wk_4h7jQV7I/AAAAAAAAAY8/zs6MDmPor64C3bAJlaGGuHyYeHjOmfQDgCEwYBhgL/s640/04.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I think a crocheted edging gives a nice finishing look to pin loom projects. The crochet hooks I used are from <a href="http://www.knitterspride.com/">Knitter's Pride</a>. I used a 4.5mm hook. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SkYLkmD5WBg/WlACvR-EyQI/AAAAAAAAAZc/TDEksKOi8XwzHbrBGPz8JNc0TF7bXNbEACLcBGAs/s1600/09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SkYLkmD5WBg/WlACvR-EyQI/AAAAAAAAAZc/TDEksKOi8XwzHbrBGPz8JNc0TF7bXNbEACLcBGAs/s640/09.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Look at my cutie pie wearing her new cowl. It is so soft and light. This is going to be perfect to keep her neck warm.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jlKpeZWByYE/WlABbgnIrFI/AAAAAAAAAZU/NyvFHF9FsYgD2l-GZlhHRRieN1xE0yyAwCEwYBhgL/s1600/07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jlKpeZWByYE/WlABbgnIrFI/AAAAAAAAAZU/NyvFHF9FsYgD2l-GZlhHRRieN1xE0yyAwCEwYBhgL/s640/07.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
She loves it and is super excited to wear it to school. I love that I could use one ball of <a href="http://filaturadicrosa.com/en/hand-knitting-yarns/Autumn-Winter/Solocashmere">Solocashmere</a> to weave a cozy cowl. My older daughter has requested I make her one also.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thank you to <a href="http://filaturadicrosa.com/en">Filatura Di Crosa</a> for letting me review your yarn. Molte grazie!</div>

<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E3brSGK4QO4/WkbB4mKTeGI/AAAAAAAAAX4/gGCUbYfpdCYQO2RsJGRqEIqPgP2HbxJUQCLcBGAs/s1600/01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E3brSGK4QO4/WkbB4mKTeGI/AAAAAAAAAX4/gGCUbYfpdCYQO2RsJGRqEIqPgP2HbxJUQCLcBGAs/s640/01.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Today I am writing about <a href="https://www.organiclamb.com/">Shepherd's Lamb's</a> Rambouillet 2ply yarn. It is a DK weight yarn and comes in 180 yard skeins. It is a 100% American Rambouillet wool completely made in the USA. Shepherd's Lamb is a family owned and operated ranch in New Mexico that raises Rambouillet and Churro sheep for fiber, meat, pelts and blankets.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0Ki7a6LOxIc/WkbEaj9psXI/AAAAAAAAAYI/eEdXX95iqlA1OkjPw34WznukPAWB8JOvgCLcBGAs/s1600/02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0Ki7a6LOxIc/WkbEaj9psXI/AAAAAAAAAYI/eEdXX95iqlA1OkjPw34WznukPAWB8JOvgCLcBGAs/s640/02.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
This yarn is 100% certified organic and dyed with natural dyes. I chose the color Victorian Rose which was dyed with cochineal. The yarn looks a bit rustic but it is soft enough. It feels wooly but not scratchy at all. I would describe it as a lofty yarn. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-osCME7pxs3k/WkbEbeWqKKI/AAAAAAAAAYY/7T0VoqlFlV0ROH9zgRR5OvWqiDSD1dEIACEwYBhgL/s1600/07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1539" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-osCME7pxs3k/WkbEbeWqKKI/AAAAAAAAAYY/7T0VoqlFlV0ROH9zgRR5OvWqiDSD1dEIACEwYBhgL/s640/07.jpg" width="614" /></a></div>
I chose to knit the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/escalade">Escalade Hat</a> with the rambouillet yarn. I knew the yarn would give the 2 stitch cable a nice stitch definition. I knit the brim for 1.5" and repeated the hat chart 9 times, then proceeded with the crown shaping.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_dmxZANyfjA/WkbEaX1hGAI/AAAAAAAAAYY/xm9HuUcuT8c3ka_kQY48LYqmz-vwZDA-wCEwYBhgL/s1600/05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_dmxZANyfjA/WkbEaX1hGAI/AAAAAAAAAYY/xm9HuUcuT8c3ka_kQY48LYqmz-vwZDA-wCEwYBhgL/s640/05.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
I washed the hat with a wool wash and blocked it over a balloon. The yarn fulled and bloomed nicely. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QO97zTP1Ol4/WkbEbCwzQuI/AAAAAAAAAYY/iLyVCVMTA2YBqn8nlOuZbK9GEH06bO43QCEwYBhgL/s1600/06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QO97zTP1Ol4/WkbEbCwzQuI/AAAAAAAAAYY/iLyVCVMTA2YBqn8nlOuZbK9GEH06bO43QCEwYBhgL/s640/06.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">As you can see, my daughter loves the new hat. I am sure she will be "borrowing" this from me. The temperatures have been in the teens and she could use some wooly warmth on her head. In fact, it was 14</span></span></span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span class="_Tgc _y9e">°</span>F when we were outside taking these photos. She ran back in and made herself some hot cocoa<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">. </span></span></span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8h-cqbXLHQo/WkbEapRIQuI/AAAAAAAAAYY/YGI4QA-DSxcv47_0yzph75V4lpl1lAS7ACEwYBhgL/s1600/04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8h-cqbXLHQo/WkbEapRIQuI/AAAAAAAAAYY/YGI4QA-DSxcv47_0yzph75V4lpl1lAS7ACEwYBhgL/s640/04.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
The natural dye really shows beautifully in this rambouillet yarn. Take a look at all the colors you can choose from <a href="https://www.organiclamb.com/shop/rambouillet-2-ply-yarn">HERE</a>. I fully support American made products and being able to knit with an American made yarn was a pleasure. <br />

<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0TWYa55NTO8/WiWSbIgs0RI/AAAAAAAAAXQ/Kmntgle_dys4n1h84qpferr2Fk5Jhaw7wCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_8687.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0TWYa55NTO8/WiWSbIgs0RI/AAAAAAAAAXQ/Kmntgle_dys4n1h84qpferr2Fk5Jhaw7wCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_8687.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I was delighted to get to review <a href="https://zenyarngarden.com/">Zen Yarn Garden's</a> gradient sets. The gradient sets are grouped together as Trios or Quartets. The Trio comes with 3 skeins, 200 yards each skein, totaling 600 yards. Quartets have 4 skeins totaling 800 yards. All gradient sets have been dyed to coordinate with each other for multi-color projects.<br />
<br />
I chose the Trio in the colors Storm Time. The light to dark blues really appealed to me. The yarn is soft to the touch. It is 100% superwash superfine merino wool that is a 2/4 ply which means 2 plies were spun into a 4 ply. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h1fe_0s1pRc/WiWW9LQbk8I/AAAAAAAAAXc/CwEaA8z0IXIlbaNt5GxXIeE9rLASWHe2gCLcBGAs/s1600/02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h1fe_0s1pRc/WiWW9LQbk8I/AAAAAAAAAXc/CwEaA8z0IXIlbaNt5GxXIeE9rLASWHe2gCLcBGAs/s400/02.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Swatching is key for helping me decide on what I want to knit with this yarn. Plus, it helps me get to know the yarn. I knitted a stockinette swatch on size US 6 needles and I definitely like the knitted fabric it produced on that needle size. It had a nice drape.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kMZ9WvXgDZ8/WiWW9Kkhn4I/AAAAAAAAAXk/OWou-yHrGv0leWddm5rmSnYUHcCjWc4igCEwYBhgL/s1600/01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kMZ9WvXgDZ8/WiWW9Kkhn4I/AAAAAAAAAXk/OWou-yHrGv0leWddm5rmSnYUHcCjWc4igCEwYBhgL/s400/01.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
My next swatch was using a lace stitch pattern that I liked. I was pleased with how the lace looked. The knitted swatches had a almost silky feel to it. It's hard to believe that it is just 100% wool. The yarn also stood up to me frogging and washing it a few times. It's a very high quality merino wool.<br />
<br />
Now that I have swatched with it and know how the yarn behaves, I am going to cast on a scarf using a combination of the stockinette and lace stitch patterns. I definitely would recommend this yarn if you are looking for gradient sets. Check out the amazing <a href="https://zenyarngarden.com/collections/gradient-sets-1">color combinations</a> they have to offer. Thank you <a href="https://zenyarngarden.com/">Zen Yarn Garden</a> for letting me try your yarn.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33861948.post-17779978025961303622017-11-21T08:00:00.000-05:002017-12-22T12:02:53.296-05:00Blog Review: JUL Designs Mod Loop Leather Closure<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have a fun review for all of you this week. The generous people at <a href="http://juldesigns.com/">JUL Designs</a> sent me one of their <a href="http://juldesigns.com/mod-loop-leather-closure/">Mod Loop Leather Closure</a> to try out. <span style="font-size: small;">Have you heard of <a href="http://juldesigns.com/screw-in-closures/">JUL screw-in snap closures</a>? They screw directly into the garment. The threaded cylinder positions between stitches with a backing on the wrong side of the fabric and a screw securing the Mod Loop on the front.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</span></span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-family: "helvetica"; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">They don't make any holes in your knitted or woven fabric and it is removable. The removable part is what sold me on it. I went searching for different accessories I wanted to out with the Mod Loop. I thought it would be interesting to see the different types of accessories it can be used on. </span></span></span><span style="font-family: "helvetica"; font-size: xx-small;"><br /></span></span></span></span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U3MyQJnD3As/WhMoLfKBoII/AAAAAAAAAWg/Jom2KWKjiEoyAzKZN9XGOzRXKl_SME4FwCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender-38.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1184" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U3MyQJnD3As/WhMoLfKBoII/AAAAAAAAAWg/Jom2KWKjiEoyAzKZN9XGOzRXKl_SME4FwCLcBGAs/s400/FullSizeRender-38.jpg" width="295" /></a></span></span></div>
My woven cowl, which was made on a pin loom, was my first accessory to experiment on. The squares are woven on a Schacht Zoom Loom and seamed together. Woven fabric is not stretchy like knitted or crocheted fabric, but I didn't have any problems working the screws into the woven fabric. Look how great it looks and it keeps my cowl closed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xgjd3-Bqb-0/WhMoLVP1bDI/AAAAAAAAAWo/UKx7uzor7Ywb7MH1LiHOGxfwXPygWC72gCEwYBhgL/s1600/FullSizeRender-37.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xgjd3-Bqb-0/WhMoLVP1bDI/AAAAAAAAAWo/UKx7uzor7Ywb7MH1LiHOGxfwXPygWC72gCEwYBhgL/s400/FullSizeRender-37.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
My next try was on my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/turkish-lace-shawl">Turkish Lace Shawl</a>. It's a very long shawl, about 95" long, so it can be styled numerous ways. In the book, they have it wrapped and tied. I used the Mod Loop on one end of the shawl and the other half was placed near the middle. I think it's a great way to keep a long shawl in place and it adds a nice detail.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8rxJwkUQKX4/WhMspaoloUI/AAAAAAAAAWs/WxlWhoB0nYwKz2uZZUwB1emhJKl1d15XACLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender-39.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8rxJwkUQKX4/WhMspaoloUI/AAAAAAAAAWs/WxlWhoB0nYwKz2uZZUwB1emhJKl1d15XACLcBGAs/s400/FullSizeRender-39.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
Of course, I had to try it on a knitted garment. This is a store bought cardigan that has no buttons to close it. It's one of those popular open front cardigans. The Mod Loop was perfect for my cardigan. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3ADzLhoNhnQ/WhMspjuxFtI/AAAAAAAAAWw/h4GRxdjg35cLMyeoyL0O7i4yE73uUFAEQCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender-40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3ADzLhoNhnQ/WhMspjuxFtI/AAAAAAAAAWw/h4GRxdjg35cLMyeoyL0O7i4yE73uUFAEQCLcBGAs/s400/FullSizeRender-40.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I really love the mod look of the JUL closure. The clean lines really makes it versatile for many types of garments and accessories. I was given the Truffle color. The leather is nice and thick and the hardware is very good quality. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f0V79oPr48o/WhMtrQLYC5I/AAAAAAAAAXA/PmpRTIwHvIIiu_mHHmpt9P9xGgDS_hM_wCEwYBhgL/s1600/Untitled-1%2Bcopy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f0V79oPr48o/WhMtrQLYC5I/AAAAAAAAAXA/PmpRTIwHvIIiu_mHHmpt9P9xGgDS_hM_wCEwYBhgL/s320/Untitled-1%2Bcopy.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
In case you are curious about the back. This is what it looks on the
back of the fabric. That is the threaded screws and backing disks.The
backing disks keep the Mod Loop closure snug against the fabric.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZWy7Fw2R_7w/WhMtrqjM62I/AAAAAAAAAW8/K5TyhKUHAXwV7s6gI5yXKnP4LVdAbmf5gCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender-41.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZWy7Fw2R_7w/WhMtrqjM62I/AAAAAAAAAW8/K5TyhKUHAXwV7s6gI5yXKnP4LVdAbmf5gCLcBGAs/s400/FullSizeRender-41.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
My last <span style="font-size: small;">accessory to try the Mod Loop on</span> was my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/putney-shawl">Putney Shawl</a>. It's not a very wide shawl so it could benefit from a closure. The Mod Loop added a great look to the shawl. It's a very eye catching closure.<br />
<br />
I absolutely adore the <a href="http://juldesigns.com/mod-loop-leather-closure/">Mod Loop Leather Closure</a>. Thank you<a href="http://juldesigns.com/"> JUL Designs</a> for letting me try out one of your closures. I can see this being used for so many types of garments and accessories. What a clever design. I am excited to release my latest cowl pattern, <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/melograno-2">Melograno</a>. Melograno means pomegranate in Italian. <a href="https://anzula.com/">Anzula’s</a> colorway, Madam, reminds me of the those delicious gem-like seeds. This warm and squishy cowl is worked from the bottom up in the round.
It’s a quick knit using <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/anzula-burly">Anzula’s Burly</a>. The merino, cashmere and nylon
blend is soft and amazing to knit with.<br />

I have never worked with a multi-textured yarn like this before. The <a href="https://www.besweetproducts.com/product/magic-ball/">Magic Ball</a> is an arrangement of hand dyed boucle and brushed mohair yarns tied with knobby, ribbon and metallic goodies. I wound the skeins by hand and was delighted to see each section of yarns and ribbon that makes up each skein of the Magic Ball. One section even had little beads threaded into the yarn. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1H3NxvGxy34/WeTdliUu-nI/AAAAAAAAAVc/2B6jCbKxKMgHpW7jdsLuuLZLDisdI2G3gCEwYBhgL/s1600/FullSizeRender-24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1H3NxvGxy34/WeTdliUu-nI/AAAAAAAAAVc/2B6jCbKxKMgHpW7jdsLuuLZLDisdI2G3gCEwYBhgL/s640/FullSizeRender-24.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I used a US 10 needle to knit with the <a href="https://www.besweetproducts.com/product/magic-ball/">Magic Ball yarn</a>. It was so much fun to knit with this yarn. I kept wanting to knit more because I wanted to see which section of goodies I would get to next. This yarn is extremely entertaining to knit with. I think my favorite sections would be the yarn with metallic threads, bobbles, beads and hand tied ribbon. The little hand tied ribbons are such a sweet touch. There are 48 colors to choose from and I did have a hard time choosing a color. I let me oldest daughter choose and she chose Oceans. I think it had to do with the mermaid-like colors of the yarn. <br />

I used 2 skeins of Magic Ball to design a small shawl. It is such a quick knit and the yarn really makes this an eye catching accessory. The shawl is blocking and I hope to get the pattern written up onto <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/angela-tong">Ravelry</a> soon. Thank you, <a href="https://www.besweetproducts.com/">Be Sweet</a>, for letting me review your yarn. <a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ozd2mZU0JJw/WZ2UNbQpIPI/AAAAAAAAAUU/9LtTwySCv60BpCRt8mDdSjouq9qJc-vygCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender-26.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ozd2mZU0JJw/WZ2UNbQpIPI/AAAAAAAAAUU/9LtTwySCv60BpCRt8mDdSjouq9qJc-vygCLcBGAs/s640/FullSizeRender-26.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Today, I am reviewing <a href="http://dalegarnnorthamerica.com/">Dale Garn's</a> newest yarn, <a href="https://www.heartofthemitten.com/product/lerke-pluss-heart-mitten-exclusive/">Lerke Pluss</a>. The yarn was provided to me for review from <a href="https://www.heartofthemitten.com/">Heart of the Mitten</a>. They are a online store and yarn shop located in Michigan. Now, they are the exclusive US retailer of Dale Garn.<br />
<br />
Lerke Pluss is a blend of 53% Merino wool and 47% Egyptian cotton. My first impressions when I touched the yarn was that it was soft, smooth and cool to the touch. It has a soft ply. There are many strands plied together and the color has a marled look. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x4sGrQ0u8FM/WZ2X4kzq-uI/AAAAAAAAAUg/gt9yTbTfpvIxAVACcs9LtGwQ2n5g6HzGgCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender-27.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x4sGrQ0u8FM/WZ2X4kzq-uI/AAAAAAAAAUg/gt9yTbTfpvIxAVACcs9LtGwQ2n5g6HzGgCLcBGAs/s400/FullSizeRender-27.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The yarn is easy to knit with and it went smoothly across my needles. I have to say it didn't feel like I was knitting with cotton. It had plenty of elasticity because of the merino wool. It has a very nice feel as you are knitting with it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oDf_HLpDNfw/WZ2UMlS99zI/AAAAAAAAAUY/E01plOz62J4LWhKe6h6svVGlZZK4FXBdACEwYBhgL/s1600/FullSizeRender-25.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oDf_HLpDNfw/WZ2UMlS99zI/AAAAAAAAAUY/E01plOz62J4LWhKe6h6svVGlZZK4FXBdACEwYBhgL/s400/FullSizeRender-25.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fM74zfef9lU/WZ2UM8jHcTI/AAAAAAAAAUY/OITwm3Yf7m8qAdmdwcHO8mTo2bDfDmphwCEwYBhgL/s1600/FullSizeRender-23.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fM74zfef9lU/WZ2UM8jHcTI/AAAAAAAAAUY/OITwm3Yf7m8qAdmdwcHO8mTo2bDfDmphwCEwYBhgL/s400/FullSizeRender-23.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I used size US8 needles and it was perfect for this yarn's gauge. It knitted up very quickly. The knitted fabric is soft and stretchy, but it still had structure. It wasn't floppy. I also liked the texture of the knitted fabric.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rDTfsFGumaA/WZ2UMAi4CrI/AAAAAAAAAUY/zrT9x-FCuj8KpyRjHykkgXEwF1oG0HxuACEwYBhgL/s1600/FullSizeRender-24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rDTfsFGumaA/WZ2UMAi4CrI/AAAAAAAAAUY/zrT9x-FCuj8KpyRjHykkgXEwF1oG0HxuACEwYBhgL/s400/FullSizeRender-24.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
My second test for the yarn was to crochet with it. I used a size 5mm crochet hook. It was easy to crochet with this yarn. It works up quickly and is very smooth. Some times you have to be careful of the plies splitting a little if you don't pay attention as you are crocheting, but it wasn't difficult to manage. The resulting crochet fabric is smooth and stretchy and not stiff at all. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3A_4o1Rut7c/WZ2bDYWKvkI/AAAAAAAAAU0/qeIl_TnnqnsjsGAkJKMbmirWqtJvPj8tQCEwYBhgL/s1600/FullSizeRender-28.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3A_4o1Rut7c/WZ2bDYWKvkI/AAAAAAAAAU0/qeIl_TnnqnsjsGAkJKMbmirWqtJvPj8tQCEwYBhgL/s400/FullSizeRender-28.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<a href="https://www.heartofthemitten.com/product/lerke-pluss-heart-mitten-exclusive/">Lerke Pluss</a> would be a great year-round yarn for many projects. I could see myself using this for baby garments. Thank you to <a href="https://www.heartofthemitten.com/">Heart of the Mitten</a> for sending me this yarn to play with.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33861948.post-25049562503292192582017-07-26T09:30:00.002-04:002017-07-26T09:30:22.309-04:00Winners of the Kumori Shawl Pattern Giveaway!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EzqFeZpycw0/WWgmGu8K2LI/AAAAAAAAAS0/eAz5vzPgtswEvwc9T_wfikdsKM4abioJgCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender-25.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EzqFeZpycw0/WWgmGu8K2LI/AAAAAAAAAS0/eAz5vzPgtswEvwc9T_wfikdsKM4abioJgCLcBGAs/s640/FullSizeRender-25.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I am excited to reveal my latest shawl design, <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kumori">Kumori</a>. Laurie from <a href="https://www.feelgoodyarnco.com/">Feel Good Yarn Company</a> had contacted me asking if I would be interested in a collaboration. She asked me to design something with a new yarn that she had been working on for her yarn line. We had a great talk on the phone and I learned a lot about her yarn company. I couldn't wait to get my hands on her new yarn.<br />
<br />
The yarn is <a href="https://www.feelgoodyarnco.com/collections/silverspun-silk">SilverSpun® Silk</a> and all 9 colors are naturally dyed. The lace weight yarn is a blend of 70% Combed Cotton / 17% Tussah silk / 6% Silver / 7% Nylon. Yes, there is a strand of real silver entwined in the yarn. The hard part for me was choosing a color. I am a fan of naturally dyed yarns. I finally settled on the color, Cloud Burst. In my opinion, you can not go wrong with grey. The color and the name of the yarn actually inspired the name for the shawl. Kumori means cloudy in Japanese.<br />
<br />
Feel Good Yarn Company says "<i>The silver content in SilverSpun® makes it therapeutic and conductive.
Silver inhibits the growth of odor causing bacteria, has excellent
thermal properties, is nontoxic and is quite beneficial for those
suffering from diabetes, arthritis and sensitive skin. Silver is also an
excellent conductive agent allowing Smartphone or tablet touch screen
use while wearing gloves knit from the yarn. The silver is permanently
adhered to the yarn and will not wash out.</i>"<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yMZK8VXDnic/WWgsLaz_DwI/AAAAAAAAATM/Burp_H4M59IOAdjdqlbM9sIKFQwNG0S-gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4943%2B%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yMZK8VXDnic/WWgsLaz_DwI/AAAAAAAAATM/Burp_H4M59IOAdjdqlbM9sIKFQwNG0S-gCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_4943%2B%25282%2529.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The yarn is crisp and excellent for stitch definition. With 800 yards to play with, I knew I wanted to make a large shawl. I chose to design a shawl with a Shetland style construction where the center triangle is knit first. Then the rest of the shawl is worked outwards. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LoMd8H9TrVo/WWgsUoI0kKI/AAAAAAAAATQ/Xld7T0m3-LwBUwwSfOEZQAmu5iXBJXV6QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4947%2B%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LoMd8H9TrVo/WWgsUoI0kKI/AAAAAAAAATQ/Xld7T0m3-LwBUwwSfOEZQAmu5iXBJXV6QCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_4947%2B%25282%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
This is how I blocked this shawl. The top edge is stretched and pinned in a straight line. Then I stretched and pinned out each picot. I block very aggressively. Shawls can take it. Trust me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cnkEpXYHMhs/WWgr-5PdFpI/AAAAAAAAATA/HfHGcMzOz3kRBaK_n3HBe31n14mSOw-jQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_4953r.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cnkEpXYHMhs/WWgr-5PdFpI/AAAAAAAAATA/HfHGcMzOz3kRBaK_n3HBe31n14mSOw-jQCEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_4953r.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The resulting shape is a crescent shaped shawl. It drapes beautifully over the shoulders. The <a href="https://www.feelgoodyarnco.com/collections/silverspun-silk">SilverSpun® Silk</a> creates a light and airy shawl. The yarn really blocks out beautifully. The cotton and silk has a lovely feel to it.<br />

I will save that topic for my next blog post. The week before the show, <a href="https://www.missbabs.com/">Miss Babs</a> launched their baby patterns in their <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/miss-babs-summer-2017/patterns">Summer 2017 Collection</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-76Kya1yM5Dk/WUwdAcRWaxI/AAAAAAAAASg/gmyKrU3LZYg7xMVaL0Bp0Sm3DQs_U7CHgCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_9889%2Bcopy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1568" data-original-width="1500" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-76Kya1yM5Dk/WUwdAcRWaxI/AAAAAAAAASg/gmyKrU3LZYg7xMVaL0Bp0Sm3DQs_U7CHgCEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_9889%2Bcopy.jpg" width="381" /></a></div>
I designed a baby blanket called <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-dearest-baby-blanket">Little Dearest</a> with 2 skeins of <a href="https://www.missbabs.com/collections/yowza">Yowza</a>. The colorway is called <a href="https://www.missbabs.com/collections/yowza/products/yowza-deermoss">Deer Moss</a> and it's a neutral color, perfect for either a boy or girl. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EiQBIlkUBJI/WUwdAczMAuI/AAAAAAAAASc/v_zg4eZnwCkuWmJK1fj_qydFNKHVUMabgCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_8681_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="427" data-original-width="640" height="266" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EiQBIlkUBJI/WUwdAczMAuI/AAAAAAAAASc/v_zg4eZnwCkuWmJK1fj_qydFNKHVUMabgCEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_8681_medium2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-dearest-baby-blanket">Little Dearest</a> is a classic diagonally knit baby blanket that will
be loved by babies and parents alike. It is knit with a 100% superwash
merino wool which will make this a very warm and snuggly blanket. The
alternating sections of Garter and Ridge Stitch create a pleasing
texture that will be perfect for a baby boy or girl.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-onsm5kYYlJ0/WUwdAS7dgLI/AAAAAAAAASk/syZ02NWLUKAgG6g6oP7twnYByNtfdPinACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_9849cr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1097" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-onsm5kYYlJ0/WUwdAS7dgLI/AAAAAAAAASk/syZ02NWLUKAgG6g6oP7twnYByNtfdPinACLcBGAs/s400/IMG_9849cr.jpg" width="272" /></a></div>
I am thrilled with the response to my new blanket design. I love knitting blankets, but I also know how tedious it can get. That is one of the reasons why I designed it diagonally. As you knit, you increase for half the blanket and then decrease for the other half. It makes it feel like less work. You can purchase the pattern <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-dearest-baby-blanket">HERE</a> and purchase the yarn from <a href="https://www.missbabs.com/collections/yowza">Miss Babs online</a> or at her retail shows.<br />

Spring is upon us and it's time to play with some cotton yarns during these warmer months heading into the hot summer. I recently got some <a href="https://www.kraemeryarns.com/yarn/yarn.asp?YarnIdnt=15" target="_blank">Tatamy Tweed DK</a> from <a href="https://www.kraemeryarns.com/" target="_blank">Kraemer Yarns</a> to try out. Normally, I am not a fan of cotton yarns because it has no elasticity and can be hard on my hands. Tatamy Tweed DK is a blend of 45% cotton and 55% acrylic. I had a feeling that I would like working with this yarn because of the blend.<br />
<br />
My first impressions when I took it out of the packaging? The yarn was cool to the touch and soft. The colors are vibrant and very pleasing to my eyes. I liked the little flecks that were spun into the yarn.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T3ok7LcZoS8/WPgXPQOL3kI/AAAAAAAAAQQ/iYHeynbOt08-BMY7t__5CkQtIQ8U38VWgCEw/s1600/IMG_3137cr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T3ok7LcZoS8/WPgXPQOL3kI/AAAAAAAAAQQ/iYHeynbOt08-BMY7t__5CkQtIQ8U38VWgCEw/s400/IMG_3137cr.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Instead of knitting with it, I decided to try weaving with it. I used my <a href="https://schachtspindle.com/item/zoom-loom/" target="_blank">Zoom Loom</a> to weave some squares. It was easy to weave with Tatamy Tweed DK. The yarn wove smoothly and did not snag or fray. If you have any experience with pin loom weaving, you would know that not every yarn is suitable for pin looms. This yarn held up to the 3 layer warp and then weaving with it.<br />

The woven fabric is light and very smooth. I am delighted by the tweed flecks in it. They add little pops of color to the finished fabric. My photo doesn't do it justice, but the woven fabric is bright and fun. I haven't decided what I am going to make with the squares, but I think it will be something for one of my daughters. I am going to keep weaving and see what it becomes. <a href="http://kraemeryarns.com/Yarn/yarn.asp?YarnIdnt=15" target="_blank">Tatamy Tweed DK</a> is machine washable which I think it's great for kids because it's easy to care for. It comes in many bright colors and neutrals, too. Whether you knit, crochet or weave, I would highly recommend trying this yarn. The cotton and acrylic blend is perfect for anyone with wool allergies. Thank you to <a href="http://kraemeryarns.com/" target="_blank">Kraemer Yarns</a> for letting me review your yarn.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
